The Untouchables (1987. VS, Brian De Palma)*

!SPOILER WARNING!

Connery is really the best thing about this movie. Close seconds comes De Palma's direction. The movie is only so-so, but there are some great directed scene's in it, like the one in which Connery gets murdered[. But regarding the story it's simplistic, cliched, sentimental and sensational. Venturing too many time into ridiculous action terrotiry; like when the account get's handed a shotgun in one scene and cleary seems flabbergasted by it, but acts like a regular Rambo in the next scene during the raid.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986, VS, John Hughes)*

Seen it once before, didn't like it then. But you know maybe I was in the wrong mood, had wrong expectation, so went for another try. And I still didn't like it really. Ferris is just an complete asshole (I read stuff on the internet on how he really is a psycho-/sociopath). I know Cameron is meant to be the real hart of the movie, but that isn't an excuse to make Ferris such a overly unrealistic character. In fact this movie works even better with that fantheory of it all being in Cameron's head in your mind. Then all the unrealistic stuff at least makes some sense.
And what teenagers ever skip school to act like 50y old tourists? There still are some entertaining bits in it while watching it, so don't dislike it.

Gone Baby Gone (2007, VS, Ben Affleck)*

The first part of the movie was good enough for it still to be (low) in my favorite list, the last 20 minutes or so are also very good, because of the ethical dilemma that is proposed in which there really isn't a good right answer. But it was in the part between that the movies kind of drags; after a hour the case is (seems) solved, but because you know from the running time the movie isn't over you know something has to happen still (of course on a rewatch I knew this for sure), but it just takes a time to get there then. Overall still a good movie, that just dropped off my list.
Cassey Affleck is terrific btw still. And I still believe that in 20-30 year his brother will be better know and respected as a director than as an actor.

The Lookout (2007, VS, Scott Frank)*

Some good acting by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I was also impressed this time by Matthew Good as the (bad) guy that charms the protagonist into the robbery plot. The best thing about the movie is how it shows how a guy like the protagonist would struggle to live an independent life. And how some anger would built up inside because he really wants to live a normal live in which he can take care of himself and do all normal stuff, but something out of his control just makes it so he never fully can be completely normal again.
